KNOW OR TWIN TURBOS RIGHT OR YOU HAVE A TURBO FAIL BECAUSE OF THE CERAMIC BEARING AND SOME
OTHER THINGS AND YOUR HAVING OTHER ISSUES LIKE THAT SO YOU THEY ONLY MADE THAT MOTOR
FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS AND THEN YOU LOOK AT THE 6.7L AND YOU KNOW PETTY COMPLICATED TO
WORK ON MAYBE NOT COMPLICATED TO WORK DIFFICULT TO WORK ON YOU KNOW THE ENGINE KEEPS GETTING

THEY DID THAT CARE IT THEY SAID IT WAS A PROGRAMMING ISSUE I DON’T LIKE THE WAY DODGE TOOK CARE
OF IT LIKE BASICALLY THEY WOULD YOU KNOW THEY WOULD DRILL A HOLE IN THE TURBO AND SPRAY
SOME SPRAY IN THERE SPRAY SOME CLEANER IN THERE SOME HAIR SPRAY IN THERE SO THIS OLD
MAN SAID HEY CAN YOU DECOKE MY TURBO I SAID YEAH WE’LL TAKE IT APART AND GLASS BEAD IT
AND GET ALL THE COKING OUT OH NO THERES THIS CHEMICAL YOU CAN RUN THROUGH THERE YOU DON’T
KNOW HOW TO DO THAT I WAS LIKE NO WE WON’T DO IT CAUSE IT WON’T WORK SO ANYWAYS I TOLD

WARRANTY AND YOU KNOW SO HE DOESN’T WANT TO TAKE IT BACK ANYWAYS HE BRINGS ME THIS CAN
OF THIS MOPAR STUFF AND HE SAYS CAN YOU AT LEAST TRY IT I’M LIKE I DON’T NEED TO TRY

CAN OPEN RIGHT AND WE GOT A SMALL CUP AND WE PUT A COMPONEMENT FROM THE TURBO IN THERE
AND WE POURED THE STUFF IN THERE AND JUST LET IT SOAK IN IT AND MAYBE YOUR SUSPOSE TO
GET IT HOT I DON’T MAYBE THE TURBO GETTING IT HOT IT TURNS INTO SOME MAGIC DUST YOU KNOW
TAKES IT ALL OFF I DIDN’T TOUCH IT REALLY NOTHING IT DIDN’T EVEN TOUCH IT I MEAN IT

I’VE HEARD THAT IS BECAUSE THE INJECTOR FOR THE REGENERATION PROCESS IS DUMPING FUEL INTO
THE OIL PAN AND CREATING OIL RIGHT SO IT’S OIL AND DIESEL FUEL MIXED TOGETHER THAT IT
WIPING OUT THE BEARINGS WELL THAT THAT IS ONE OF THE ISSUES BUT I MEAN NO DIFFERENT
THAN THE OLD DURAMAX’S YOU KNOW YOU WOULD HAVE AN INJECTOR THAT WOULD JUST START FILLING
UP THE CRANKCASE FULL YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN IT WOULD COME OUT THE TOP OF THE INJECTOR
ESPICALLY IF THE INJECTOR HAD A CRACK RIGHT ABOVE THE SEAL AND IT WOULD FILL UP YOU KNOW
THE HEAD AND THEN DRAIN DOWN IN THERE SO IT WOULD KIND OF BE THE SAME THING THE SAME KIND

4 MONTHS AND THE NUMBER 5 CONNECTING ROD IS PUSHED OUT THE SIDE OF THE BLOCK I DON’T KNOW
WHAT CAUSED THAT IT WAS A REBUILT FROM FORD THE NUMBER FIVE WHAT CONNECTING ROD OUT OF
THE BLOCK WAS OUT THE SIDE OF THE BLOCK COULD YOU WELD IT HERE LET ME FIX YOUR MIC REAL

THINKING CRAP THE MOTOR FINALLY BLEW SO I GO ASK THE SERVICE WRITER HEY YOU KNOW THAT
TRUCK OUT THERE FOR THE TOW COMPANY THAT’S ONE OF MY OLD TRUCKS PUTTING A MOTOR IN IT
HE SAYS NO IT NEEDS A STEERING GEAR I WENT OUT AND LOOKED AT THE ODOMETER IT HAD 386,000

  5. Ford started out with a good diesel engine, the 6.9L international. A true diesel engine (i.e. Sleeved cylinders), I knew several people that got over 1,000,000 miles with no major problems. Then they decided to just make a cast iron block in the 7.3L, Dog City! It's been downhill for Ford diesels ever since.
    Yuo want a great diesel engine in your PU Truck? Cummins, preferably the 5.9L 12 valve engine. Bullet proof.

  6. I dunno the allison is GREAT for stock power. Thats it though . I like to tinker with my toys , you cant build and allison like you could a th400 4l80e 48re 47re . I think my perfect truck would be a GMC 6.7 cummins w/ a built th400 and gear vendors over drive.

  9. Powerstroke is better then Cummins. It’s just a fact yeah they have some problems but after you fix the 6.0 and 6.4 they are monsters and tow like a train. And the 6.7 just shits and rips

  10. My 5.9 Cummins has been great to me. Regular oil changes every 3000 miles
    and change the fuel filter every time. Now the 48re transmission is a different story

  11. 97 f250 7.3 powerstroke with 180,000miles . The only thing I've done to it is replaced the fuel pump 3 times . The last time was 4 months ago when I did the e-fuel conversion .

  12. Had a Ford F250 with the 7.3 N man that thing was a powerful beast N indestructible, loved that truck especially living in Minnesota N plowing snow with it, never did it slow it down

  13. 12v cummins cannot be beat. never has, prob never will. no diesel can even compare by a long shot. not in power, mpg, reliability, ease of repair etc etc etc. keep it (near) stock and you will see 400-500K easy if driven proper.

  14. So many mechanics like Ford because they are familiar with them and know how to fix them. The reason they are so familiar with them is because there is always a Ford in their shop. Buy a GM and never see your mechanic again!!

  16. We just bought an old 1982 International medium sized dump truck with the DT466 and a 5 speed with 2 speed rear end. Fun to drive and reliable as hell. No computer bullshit. Old mechanical diesels were the best.

  18. The worst diesel is my OM612 5-cyl Mercedes in my 2003 Sprinter van. Well, it was great till the manufacturer deadly flaw with the EGR corrosion in the intake that bleeds hot bypass exhaust gases onto a nylon fuel return line to turn your vehicle into a lump of melted metal within 10 minutes.

  21. The 7.3 is good motor but the start around 1968 it was a 6.9 but the block is the same the last 7.3 was 2003 I have in wrecker for years would over 375000 out

  22. I'm a ford guy always been always will be. I drive a f250 6.7 I LOVE the powerstroke, towing is a ease with it. But I always wanted a 12v cummins but I don't like the trucks they're in.

  23. Agreed the Ford makes the finest chassis, but the straight 6 diesel is so proven, every farm implement and most construction equipment have straight 6. I agree 100% with this guy. Allison, cummins, and Ford body. I've always thought Chevy had the most comfortable ride, but this guy knows his stuff. Cleared issues up for me. Looking for a Ford 7.3 stick.

I agree I've been a mechanic all my life I own a F-150 a 2500 Dodge and a 2500 Chevrolet and a 1500 GMC and I believe that Ford does build a better heavier truck but when it comes down to the engines in the 225 hundreds that I have hands down the Cummins is the better engine the trucks is no comparison the Ford truck is twice the truck the Dodge is but engine to engine dependability is hands-down Cummins wins

I agree I had a guy in my shop they wanted me to stud the heads and all that other crap I learned when I went to diesel School and learned a long time before that working on my dad's Cole trucks that the week is part of the bolt was where the threads are so why would you put something in the head threads on both sides and there's a reason why nobody want these those parts it's really good to start with but nothing lasts as long as OEM

  27. I have a 99 F-350 s/d. It had a V-10 gas. Had it been a 7.3 I would have left it alone. I replaced it with 10.2 liter twin turbo CAT and a seven speed Fuller. THAT'S the PERFECT pickup.

  29. Best Ever !!!! Ford/International 7.3 turbo 1994-2002, most reliable,durable, powerful at the time and most popular diesel ever made. You have to include all the International chassis that had the same engine 444 in school buses, box trucks, etc. The Worst Ever. 350 Olds Diesel Truck wise Super Duty is still super but $10,000 extra for any Diesel is not worth it unless you really pull load all the time. If I could get a new 2001Ford SuperDuty 7.3 Again I would take it over any thing else.

  33. 7.3 and 5.9 Cummins. Cough 6.4. My neighbor has a 97 7.3 crew cab 4door. And I daily drive a 95 7.3 w an extended cab exdended bed. I love the truck.

  34. It’s a tradgedy ford doesn’t use the first gen 7.3 in their trucks. It’ll tow anything you want it’ll still pull like a mother freight train for years to come when kept with tue stock tune.

  35. Smog regulations have ruined the diesel.
    The days of the diesel pickup are numbered.
    For now gas rules.
    Maybe electrics in the future?

  36. What's strange is the Ford Ranger 2.2L XLT diesel with the turbo made in Malaysia's Ford Plant is # 1 out here. We had ours at 200km(about 126mph) on the expressway EASY. Ford is # 1 out here good running dependable truck.
